My grandmother identified the young man as her grandfather, James Warren Sargent, born 1831 in NY. He moved to Lenawee Co,, MI, from Onondaga Co, NY, before 1854 where he married Helen Mar Cary. Helen was born in 1835 in Onondaga Co, NY. They lived in Hudson, Medina Twp., Lenawee Co, MI before moving west to Hillsdale Co, MI. This the picture is on carboard and he appears to be fairly young. It seem likely James would have been older when this type of picture was made, however, his features are consistant with the other photos of James, especially his nose.
