Berwick, Columbia County, Pennsylvania Photo taken in 1906 This article appeared in the Press Enterprise on August 27, 1998. It tells of the druggist, who occupied the Flatiron Building in Berwick. He, his wife and his child (presumably in separate incidents) were all killed by automobiles at the site. Annie Sponenberg, former owner of the building, was hit by a car and killed there, as was another Annie (Burket) and a Charles Smith, to name a few. A former resident writes......"Around 1969/70, a girl, and her two companions, high school kids, died in a horrific high-speed wreck there one night (....and the driver walked "without a scratch"). The girl had been having recurring dreams that she was walking along the street, with her deceased high school sweetheart (leukemia), and the dream would always end with him parting from her when they reached the Flatiron Building, with her unable to follow him beyond that point, which is exactly where she died. Coincidence, or .......? " Articles on Death of Annie Sponenberg
