The Will of Matthias Whitenight
(son of Matthias Michael Whitenight)

The Last Will and Testament of Michael Whitenight Senr of Hemlock

      In the name of God Amen, I Matthias Whitenight Senr. of Hemlock Township in the county of Columbia and state of Pennsylvania being of infirm breath but of sound mind do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner and form following viz.

      First, It is my will that my beloved wife Rebecca shall have the use of the Farm on which we now reside during all the time she shall remain my widow. Also she shall have one cow, two hogs, the old Bay Horse, three sheep, to have the use of all the household goods and furniture, to have all the meat which may be on hand at the time of my decease to have as much grain as will be necessary for her use untill such times as she get a sufficiency from her share raised on the farm, all the above bequests to be only as long as she remains my widow.

      Second, It is my further will that such other Personal property as God has blessed me with and not bequeathed as above be sold at public sale as soon after my decease as convenient and that all my Just debts and funeral expenses be paid out of the same and if any remain it is to be equally divided between my children except the daughter of my son William named Hannah Rebecca is to have only a half a share but is she died before of age the share to go to my children.

      Third, it is my further will that after the death of my beloved wife or after she ceases to remain my widow that that the farm be either sold or divided among my children and the above mentioned grand child in the same ration as the above bequest of personal property, as also the goods remaining of the bequest to my wife and that she use her her endeavorurs to have the farm kept in good repair as long as in her possession she to have the privilege to rent to whom she pleases.

      And further I hereby nominate ordain and appoint my much esteemed and trusty friend John Rikart of Madison township to be my executor to this my last will and Testament written on one sheet of paper. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty third day of December A. D. 1845
