| LEGRANT SPONENBURG FARM HOUSE |
|
|
Believed to be the home of Legrant and Mary Alice (Fortner) Sponenburg, however, it isn't known if the house was in Briar Creek, Columbia county, or Nescopeck, Luzerne county, Pennsylvania. The family appear in the 1850-1870 Federal census for Briar Creek and in the Nescopeck census for 1900-1910. If you have any information that would answer this question, please let me know. NOTE: Legrant Sponenburg apparently preferred spelling his name with a "u" (Sponenburg), compared to his brother, James C. Sponenberg, who used an "e".
