| JAMES C. SPONENBERG FARM HOUSE |
|
|
From John Harter III: "This would be the house that Mary (Garney) Sponenberg occupied with James C. [Sponenberg] Betty says last time it sold the ad said it had eleven rooms. It is at the end of South Warren Street, just below Susquehanna Avenue. It appears to have two additions to the original structure, which has a chimney at each end. The house is built into a slope so that the first-floor back porch actually is two stories above ground. Behind it are the railroad tracks (the train transported farm produce to neighboring town markets) and the Susquehanna River. Fenstermacher (and my mother) mentions an icehouse there...."
