HANDWRITTEN GENEALOGY

Handwritten von Zuccalmaglio Genealogy

This is a handwritten copy, from a 13 generation descendant chart that measures 60 x 40 cm and is now posession of the von Zuccalmaglio family in Frankfurt-Main, Germany.

This copy was made in 1765, by a brother of Marian Henricus von Zuccalmaglio(probably Henricus Franciscus Geodefridus), who went to Verona, Italy, to search about the property of his fathers's family. The son, Henricus, never returned to Germany, but was found murdered near the village of Lucca, Italy. It is believed that their Italian members of the family did not want to divide the property among the family in Italy and the family of Antonio Simeon, in Germany.

The Descendant Chart was certified as original by the notary public Josef Zanelli in Venedig/Italy in 1765. It begins in 1487 with Clemente Zuccalmaglio and ends in 1700 with Antonio Simeon von Zuccalmaglio, who was born in 1712.

In actuality, the family is known as "della Zuccalmaglio" and not "di" or "de/von" Zuccalmaglio. There was never any aristocracy. Researchers believe that Antonis Simeon Zuccalmaglio gave himself the "de/von" in order to make his ancestors aristocracy to obtain a better profession. Neither the Italian, nor the German/Preussen State, accepted this and the family was made to pay taxes
