Stillman was born Feb 15, 1861, son of Melbourne and Amanda (Keene) Wilcox. He died about Feb 28, 1863 in Great Valley, Cattaraugus Co, NY. Mother, Amanda, is seen to the left. "Must have been about a year old. .... This is the only picture of him, poor baby. Died of diptheria or some such when he was 18 months old. Melbourn was in the army and got compassionate leave to come home. Thats the only leave I know of his having." "That is Amanda holding Stillman up. I'd love to see a color picture of her as a young woman. She had auburn hair, I'm told. It was grey when I new her. And she was so tiny she even looked small to a 4 year old. She made delicious molasses "pattycakes" with confectioners sugar iceing on them...or maybe it was Aunt Lone who made them but they were in Little Gramma's pantry and she gave me one to eat. Yummy. She said "What does grammy's baby want, a pattycake?" Funny how that sticks in my mind." Phyllis
