He was born April 20, 1831 in Hinsdale, Cattaraugus Co, NY and died Oct 31, 1913 in Bradford, McKean Co, PA. "Called Gus. Married Electa Marie Mack and had 4 children. I have copies of a diary and some letters he wrote while in the army. In one battle, a spent minnie ball dropped into his boot without injuring him seriously." Phyllis
