Edna Chryscilda Maloney was born to Alpheus David Maloney and Josephine Frances Casterline on Jan 11, 1878 Jefferson twp, Hillsdale Co, Michigan. Her maternal grandparents are Chauncey Casterline and Chryscilda Hatch, the daughter of Thomas Davis Hatch, who served in the War of 1812, as Captain of the Militia and Irena "Maranda" Wells. Thomas's father, Lewis Hatch, played a prominent role in the Revolutionary War, serving five terms between 1776 and 1779. Several descendants have become members of the Daughters of the American Revolution on his service.

Edna married John G Shaw about 1902. She died October 28, 1907 in Gratiot Co, Michigan.
