SHELDON CEMETERY

My 4th g-grandmother, Eunice (HOPKINS) FULLER's mother was Mary BRAMAN/BRAYMAN). In the very little, old SHELDON cemetery, just west of Frontier, in Woodbridge twp., Hillsdale Co, Michigan, where Eunice (HOPKINS) FULLER is buried, in the next row, beside Eunice's husband's brother....is an Ann BRAYMAN. (Eunice's husband is Samuel Fuller. His brother is Cornelius Fuller)

There was a BRAYMAN school in Amboy twp. which is directly below Woodbridge twp. The township is not very big as part of it was lost to Ohio in the border 'war' in the 1830's. It can't be more than 5 miles wide, making it a 'short walk' from anywhere in Woodbridge twp. Frontier, itself, is only about 5 miles from the Ohio border.

MABEL DOUBLE -From "150 Years in Hills and Dales" Vol. II by Hillsdale Centennial Commission

My mother's family came from Lyons, New York, in 1865. My great grandfather VASSEL BRAYMAN and his wife, DELIAH, with their son, JEREMIAH and his wife RUTH, son THEODORE and daughter, ANGELINE, settled in Amboy Center. Another son, HERBERT, was born later. Photo of Ruth and son, Herbert? and family. My father, Wilbert DOUBLE and ANGELINE BRAYMAN were married February 28, 1896. They had two children, a daughter, Mabel, born December 31, 1899 and one son, Glenn, born November 21, 1901. When my parents were first married, they lived in Woodbridge township, but later moved to the old BRAYMAN homestead in Amboy, across the road from the BRAYMAN schoolhouse. We lived there during my school days and two years of my teaching. My freshmen year, I went to Reading High School and lived with my aunt and uncle, Noah DOUBLE, and another aunt and uncle, Herbert BRAYMAN.

WARRANTY DEED:
Jeremiah SARGEANT [his grandnephew married Thos. & Samantha (FULLER) HOPKINS g-granddaughter of Woodbridge twp, Hillsdale Co, Michigan] of Ransom, Hillsdale Co, Michigan to JEREMIAH D. NOTE: This property is across the road and almost directly east of property, in Woodbridge township, owned by Thomas BRAYMAN and wife Ann.

My Thoughts - Because OLIVE GREEN married CORNELIUS BRAYMAN, and because her sister, DORCAS GREEN married SETH BRAMAN, I believe there is a strong possibility that SETH BRAMAN/BRAYMAN is a relative of CORNELIUS, possibily a brother. CORNELIUS BRAYMAN's grandmother, MARY (CROWELL) FULLER, is the daughter of SETH CROWELL, Jr., and has a brother named SETH CROWELL. Also, Thomas BRAYMAN, found in Woodbridge twp, Hillsdale Co., [who's wife, Ann UNKNOWN, is buried with Cornelius and Samuel FULLER, brothers of Mary FULLER BRAYMAN] has a son named Seth.

Posted on the WASHINGTON CO., NY GENWEB PAGE;
**BRAMAN/BRAYMAN/BREYMAN**
Other surnames in query: GREEN, HOPKINS, BUSSING

Seth BRAMAN (BRAYMAN/BREYMAN) and Dorcas GREEN. Seth died in Argyle in 1874 at age 70 or 73. (b. abt 1801) His daughter, Mary, married Eli HOPKINS. Their Photo.  Amos moved with the HOPKINS family to MI about 1857. Mary was born about 1827. Seth's daughter Hannah married Timothy BUSSING. Hannah was born in Argyle 20 March 1829. Does anyone have any further information on any of these families that might help me find Seth's parents. On some census records a Jeremiah BRAMAN, Sr., lived in the household next to Seth's. Could he be Seth's father. There is also a Jeremiah BRAMAN, Jr.

Do any of these ages match with your Hopkins family? You didn't give the date of birth for Eli. This Eli would have been born about 1825. I haven't had a chance to look at your web site yet but will try to get to it this weekend.

Thanks for contacting me.

Amos BRAMAN is my paternal great grandfather. His obituary states that he was born 11 October 1842 in Washington Co. NY., son of Seth and Dorcas (GREEN) BRAMAN. Seth BRAMAN, who was a farmer and was "reared and married in that state." Seth and Dorcas had eight children (order unknown except Amos was last): Hannah, Assel, Mary, Ann, Jim, Olive, Sabrey, and Amos. Dorcas died when Amos was 2˝ old. He then went to live with his married sister (which one unknown). They moved to Kalamazoo, Mich., when he was about 5 years old. I assume Dorcas would have
died about April, 1843, according to Amos' birth date. Amos married Nancy FISH 4 July 1863 in Kalamazoo. They moved with Nancy's family to Crawford Co., WI.

I've received info that Dorcas GREEN was the daughter of Asahel and Christiana (WORDEN) GREEN of the Town of Ft. Edward, Washington Co. Christiana died in 1820 and Asahel then married Elcey Hopkins (no children). He died ion 1852.

The name is sometimes spelled Breyman or Braman.

The Bramans are an elusive bunch. Does anyone have any info on any ancestors or descendants of anyone other than Amos. I'm happy to share info I have on Amos.

1903) Christiana died Nov 15, 1820, and is buried in the Hopkins
Cemetery in Argyle, NY. Asahel then married ELCEY HOPKINS [Elsie]. Asahel died
Sept 16, 1852. Asahel & Christiana had the following children:

Thomas
James (married Mary Hopkins)
Lucinda (married Pegleg Burgess)
Mary (Polly) (married James Austin)
Dorcas (married Seth Breyman
Olive (married Cornelius Breyman)
Christina (married Daniel Osborn/James Doritz)

.......From Loma Wilkins

John Fuller and Sabra Green married and had:
Enos Fuller
Ezra Fuller

Enos Fuller married Sarah Ann Green, dau of Asahel, Jr. and Mariam Hopkins Green
Ezra Fuller married Christina Green, dau of Asahel, Jr. and Mariam Hopkins Green

Enos and Sarah Ann (Green) Fuller had:
Helen d. young
Eddie

Eddie Fuller married Eva Gullick, dau of Christina and Sarah Ann Green's sister, Elsie Jane and Wm. Gullick
Thank God, Eva and Eddie adopted their children!!

I also found in the 1850 Federal census for German, Chenango County, NY (which is where the Greens came to from Washington County) that John Fuller, age 46, a joiner, was living in the household of Ezra and Christina Fuller, and next door to Enos and SarahAnn Fuller. In the German cemetery there is a stone bearing this inscription: John Fuller d. May 27 1868. Aged 66 years, 1 month, 22 days. Not exactly right for a birthdate of Feb 1800, is it? But it could easily be Ezra and Enos's father. The stone is near the Greens.

I guess I should give you all of Asahel, Jr and Mariam Hopkins Green's children:

1. Orin Green b. 17 Apr 1823 m. (1) 12 Apr 1843 Lavina Niles, (2) 16 Apr 1849 Jane Julana Niles [sisters] (3) Almedia Abbott
2. Elsie Jane Green b. 22 Aug 1825 m. (1.) Richard Gillett, (2) William Gullick
3. Christina Green b. 19 Jan 1828 m. 22 May 1844 Ezra Fuller
4. Sarah Ann Green b. 4 Oct 1830 in Sodus, Wayne Co, NY. m. 31 Dec 1844 Enos Fuller
5. Mathew Hopkins Green b. 7 Apr 1838. m. 3 Jul 1856 Amelia Ford

#1, Orin Green was my gr-gr grandfather. He married the 3rd wife when he was 60 and she was about 17! The youngest child of that marriage is still alive and well in German, NY, as she was born when Orin was 84 and she's now 95.
